A detained patient has absconded from hospital, prompting police to appeal for the public’s help in tracing him.
Joseph Moran, 46, who has poor mental health, left the grounds of Stobhill Hospital in Glasgow Wednesday lunchtime. He requires medication and members of the public are asked not to approach him but to contact police if they see him.
Mr Moran is white, 5ft 10in with receding, sandy-coloured hair, has green eyes and a distinctive birth mark on his forehead. He has a tattoo on his left arm and was wearing a black Berghaus Jacket, a blue and grey top with a white collar, jeans and black trainers.
He left Stobhill, in the Springburn area, at around 11.50am and was seen at a relative’s address in Mossgiel Drive, Drumchapel a short time later.
Detective Inspector Davie Mackie said: “Joseph Moran is a detained patient within Stobhill Hospital. He suffers from mental health issues and requires medication. It is imperative that he returns to the hospital where he can receive the medical treatment required.
“Despite extensive inquiries, all efforts to trace him have met with a negative result. If anyone recognises him, I would urge them to contact police and not to approach him. Similarly, if anyone knows of his whereabouts please do not shelter him as he needs medical care.”
Anyone who recognises Mr Moran, or who has seen him since he absconded, is asked to call police on 0141 532 4279 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
