Police are hunting a thief who robbed a 15-year-old girl at knifepoint in her own home.
The girl was alone in the property in Southouse Crescent, Edinburgh, at about 10.30pm on Saturday when a man came to the door.
When she opened it, he forced his way past her with a knife and ransacked the house of money and jewellery. The 15-year-old was not injured, police said.
The main is white, in his 20s and around 5ft 10ins with a heavy build. He was wearing a balaclava to cover his face, black trousers and a black top which had some paint stains.
Detective Constable Dominic Cox said: “This was an isolated and unusual incident, however it is essential that we catch this man as soon as possible and so I would ask the public who has any information to contact us immediately.
“He left the house carrying a large clear or white-coloured bag as well as a dark-coloured rucksack.
“I am appealing for anyone who was in the area of Southhouse Crescent between 10pm and 11pm on Saturday night, and who saw anyone acting suspiciously and fitting that description, to contact Police Scotland immediately on 101 or tell us anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
