Tax-dodging Scottish fishermen are to be pursued by a new taskforce launched by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
The taskforce will cover all areas of the Scottish fishing industry, including tax evasion by crews, fishing vessel owners and fish processors.
It is expected to recover £3.6 million from tax dodgers.

HMRC will also work closely with Police Scotland, Immigration Enforcement, Border Force and the Gangmasters Licensing Authority in a multi-agency approach to identify occurrences of migrant labour abuse either through fraudulent accessto benefits and public services or by exploitative employers.
An HMRC insider told The Courier: “We are trying to deal with the problem of people who are undercutting the legitimate fishermen by fraud.
“We are trying to create a situation where there is a level playing field so that legitimate fishermen can make a living by obeying the law.”
