An aide to SNP Enterprise Minister Fergus Ewing has come under fire for online remarks about redundancies at a Scottish newspaper.
Norman Will appeared to conflate the issue with a perceived anti-independence stance when he tweeted about job losses at the Herald.
He posted: “Pssst…hands up everyone working for the Herald group who still has a job! Time for Scottish press run from Scotland with Scot agenda?”
After coming under fire by other users, he appeared to backtrack on his comment.
He tweeted: “I expressed myself badly but my position clear job losses at Herald very concerning & sympathy for all affected.”
An SNP spokesperson said: “Labour have distorted Mr Will’s position he has made his position clear that job losses are very concerning, and our sympathies are with everyone affected.”
