The family of a man missing since Hogmanay have said the month since his disappearance has been “a living hell”.
Jean McDonald (30), sister-in-law of missing George McDonald, appealed for information at Alloa police station, accompanied by brothers Lewis and William.
“George is very much a family man who adores his nieces and nephews. They all miss him and ask every day ‘is Uncle George still lost?”‘ she said.
“It is hard to tell them that he is. They don’t understand. Every day we hope we can tell them that he has been found.
“This is a living hell for us and we can’t sleep not knowing where he is or what has happened yet. We are desperate for information and appeal for anyone who may have seen him to contact the police.”
Police said Mr McDonald (51), who has a history of mental illness and requires daily medication, may appear confused and disorientated.
Inspector Charlie Mitchell, of Central Scotland Police, said Mr McDonald is a keen fisherman and is capable of living outdoors, and he has knowledge of the Kinross, Tayside, Fife and the Borders areas.
“We are urging farmers and anybody who may have barns or other outbuildings to check them in case George has taken shelter there,” Mr Mitchell said.
Mrs McDonald said: “His disappearance is completely out of character and we appeal for anyone who may have seen him to come forward.”
Mr McDonald was last seen outside his home in Hillpark, Alloa, at around 2pm on December 31.
Mobile phone records show he was in the Dollarbeg area of Clackmannanshire at 6.30am on January 3.
He is 5ft 8in with short, balding grey hair. When last seen he was wearing a dark-coloured, padded jacket, dark blue jeans, dark-coloured boots and possibly a dark woollen hat.
