Milder weather will return to Scotland today after snow showers turned to rain overnight.
Heavy snowfall disrupted road travel on Wednesday and forced dozens of schools to close.
The icy blast looks to have passed, with temperatures expected to reach up to 8C across most parts today.
The warmer weather is expected to remain for several days and brings with it the risk of flooding from thawing snow.
Sally Webb, a forecaster with MeteoGroup, said: “Rain overnight across most of southern Scotland will clear and conditions will stay fairly mild for the rest of the week.”
The cold weather is expected to hit again on Tuesday or Wednesday next week.
