A specially commissioned “science cake” was made to provide a fitting focal point for a Dundee University final year ball.
The life sciences students, together with lecturers and other students from the college of life sciences, immersed themselves in Dundee Science Centre’s interactive exhibits, live shows and demonstrations and enjoyed a science-themed evening of music, dancing, food and drink on Saturday.
A cake made by Kaeti Freeman formed part of the celebrations, made from 103 individual cakes representing each element of the periodic table.
Carla Brown, one of the organisers, said, “I’ve loved studying at Dundee University and I really wanted to leave my mark. Since I began my studies here, I’ve never really felt that there were many ‘science-based’ social events and I really hope the life sciences graduation party becomes one of many.”
Sarah Duncan, senior operations officer at Dundee Science Centre, said, “We are really excited, having been chosen to stage this key event for the life sciences students, and we’re pulling out the stops to ensure that they all have an extremely enjoyable and memorable evening.”
