Perth College UHI students have celebrated their achievements at a prize-giving ceremony at Perth Racecourse.
Awards were presented to over 70 prizewinners for exceptional success in further education learning by principal and chief executive Dr Thomas Moore and a former student, actor Tom Urie on Thursday.
Dr Moore said, “We are extremely proud of the achievements of all our prizewinners.
“This year has seen outstanding performances by students who are today acknowledged for their skills, efforts and dedication by our industrial and commercial partners and individual sponsors.”
Mr Urie added, “My time at Perth was most enjoyable and I learned that even when you leave formal education, you never stop learning and picking up skills.”
Two students who won awards spoke of their delight at being at the ceremony.
Bruno Odehnal completed his professional chef award at Perth College UHI and won the Memorial Quaich for Gleneagles Patisserie Course.
He said, “I am from Slovakia and have been in Perth five years.
“My first job was as a driver for Domino’s pizza which meant I travelled to restaurants all over the country, sparking a real interest in food, and catering, leading to my promotion to store manager.
“I happened to come across the prospectus for Perth College UHI and thought the professional chef award looked a good way to improve my chances of success in the industry.”
And Pauline Nisbet, who won the NC Administration Cup for Academic Excellence, said she planned to continue her studies at the college by doing the HNC Administration and Information Technology course.
