POLICE HAVE seized a stash of heroin worth£3.5 million, one of the largest in Scotland this year.
A man and woman were arrested after raids on properties in Glasgow on Wednesday afternoon, which also uncovered £175,000 worth of cannabis.
Officers from Strathclyde Police discovered the heroin haul during a search of homes in Shawhill Road, Pollokshaws, and Mavisbank Gardens, near Kinning Park.
Around 350 cannabis plants were discovered at a unit on an industrial estate in Lloyd Street, Rutherglen.
A 26-year-old man and a woman aged 28 appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court yesterday in connection with the drugs find.
Detective Chief Inspector Ricky Ness said: “This is one of the largest seizures the force has made this year and shows our ongoing commitment to keeping people safe by ridding Strathclyde’s streets of the menace of drugs and tackling serious and organised crime.”
