Royal Mail has beaten its target for first class deliveries across mainland Scotland.
The Perth area scored particularly well in the latest results, which cover from June to September. In the PH postcode area, 96.1% of first class mail was delivered on time, the third-highest proportion in Scotland.
The DD postcode, which covers Dundee and Angus, recorded the worst mainland record for successful deliveries last time around just 87.8%. The latest figures show mail in the area is passing the 93% target with flying colours, with 94.6% of first class mail delivered on time.
In Fife, first class mail to the KY postcode area was delivered on time in 95.3% of cases, up from 88.2% in the previous quarter.
Across the country, first class beat its 93% target for next-working-day delivery, with a 93.2% performance in the three months.
Second class beat its 98.5% target for delivery in three working days with a 98.7% result.
Royal Mail has accepted that, despite the improvement in performance over the summer, it will be a challenge to hit all its targets over the full year in the midst of its modernisation programme.
Paul Kelly, regional operations director, said: ”These independent figures show that Royal Mail has taken a big step forward in providing the first class service that Royal Mail’s customers across Scotland expect and deserve.”
