Tommy Sheridan almost eligible for home leave from Castle Huntly

Tommy Sheridan will be allowed to return home on leave from Castle Huntly jail, near Dundee, later this month.
The former Scottish Socialist Party leader was transferred to the open prison from Barlinnie in Glasgow last month, just five months into his three-year sentence for perjury.
He was jailed in January after being found guilty of lying in his defamation case against the News of the World. He was convicted of five counts of perjury.
After his week-long period of leave ends, he will have to return to Castle Huntly for another three weeks before he is entitled to another seven days’ leave.
Home leave is granted to prisoners in the open estate to help them prepare for release and a return to normal life.
Sheridan may become eligible for release in November, although he would have to wear an electronic tag until July.
