Former US president George W Bush has undergone a heart procedure after doctors discovered a blockage in an artery.
A stent was inserted during a procedure at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, Mr Bush’s spokesman Freddy Ford said.
The blockage was discovered yesterday during Mr Bush’s annual physical at the Cooper Clinic in Dallas, where the nation’s 43rd president lives.
Mr Ford said the blockage was opened with no complications, and the 67-year-old is expected to be discharged on Wednesday.
The spokesman described Mr Bush as being “in high spirits” and eager to return home. The former president plans to resume his normal schedule on Thursday.
Mr Ford also said Mr Bush is grateful to the skilled medical professionals who have cared for him and encourages everyone to get regular check-ups.
