Poll shows romance is alive north of border as Valentine’s Day approaches
ByGraham Gibson
Love is in the air across Scotland after it was named as the second most romantic region in Britain.
A survey of the most romantic areas across the UK discovered that Scotland was second only to the West Midlands, where a whopping 84 per cent of people consider their partner to be romantic.
London finished third while Wales and the North East took up the last two places in the UK’s league of love.
The survey discovered that one in four women can expect to receive jewellery on Valentine’s Day.
For those who receive a proposal to go with their jewellery, one in five engagement rings will cost between £750 to more than £3,000, with the national average costing £573.
It was revealed that most Brits buy their gifts seven days in advance with an average spend of £65.
There are still plenty of last-minute panics though as one in five people buy their gift just a day or two before.
Not everyone believes in giving gifts, however, and one in 10 people in the East Midlands don’t give any gifts at all.
