It’s war and diesel prices at Tesco and Asda forecourts are tumbling as a result

The price of petrol recently plummeted to under £1 now diesel is set to go the same way.
A new supermarket war appears to be on the horizon after Tesco tweeted news of its plans to slash the price of diesel to 99.7p from Monday.
Asda are doing likewise, meaning diesel is tumbling to its lowest price since 2009.
The RAC has welcomed the move, describing it as “overdue”.
“Diesel drivers will clearly welcome this move by the big supermarkets, although it would be fair to say it is overdue,” a spokesman said.
“We hope that other supermarkets and the cheaper fuel retailers will follow suit and do the right thing for motorists. This should reduce the average price of diesel for motorists everywhere who will benefit from the low price of crude oil.”
Both price cuts will come into effect on Monday at supermarket forecourts across the country.
