Police want to trace a man in connection with a burglary after he was filmed by a camera set up for BBC’s Springwatch programme.
The camera, which was installed in a neighbouring property to film urban wildlife for the BBC Two show, captured footage of the man climbing over a fence and making off across the garden, Scotland Yard said.
Officers have released an image of the man after the burglary at a residential address in Hollingbourne Road, Herne Hill, south London, in the early hours of Sunday, January 12.
He was captured on film shortly after 3.45am, a Metropolitan police spokesman said.
The neighbour noticed the camera had been activated overnight and handed the footage over to police, he added.
Springwatch, presented by Chris Packham, Michaela Strachan and Martin Hughes-Games, features hidden, remotely operated cameras to capture the behaviour of animals in their natural habitats.
