Police are appealing to drivers and the public to take extra care as ferocious winds sweep across the country.
Emergency services have been tending to two people who became trapped in their car when a tree toppled on to the vehicle’s roof at about 1.30pm.
The incident happened on the A91 near Milnathort. Tayside Police, Tayside Fire and Rescue and the ambulance service attended.
A man and a woman were reported to be trapped in the car.Both were taken by ambulance to the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline.
Although it was initially thought that the 49-year-old man may have suffered life-threatening injuries, it was later confirmed that his head and hand injuries were not as quite as serious as first feared.
He suffered a broken wrist, broken ribs and shoulder lacerations, while the 48-year-old woman suffered cuts and bruises.
Police are asking drivers to reduce their speed and be aware of the conditions and the gusting winds at all times.
They are also asking the public to look out for hazards or the risk of objects coming loose.
There are many reports of trees and branches being blown over.
The Tay Bridge was also closed to all traffic at around 2pm. (Check here for updates).
A police spokesman said,”In addition to warning drivers to be alert on the roads, we would ask businesses and householders to ensure that items such as wheelie bins, ladders, bikes, garden furniture and even trampolines are secured and won’t blow into harm’s way.”
