Ariana Grande has released a new song and an accompanying music video.
The pop star shared 7 Rings on social media on Thursday. The track was reportedly inspired by a shopping trip to a jewellery store Grande took after breaking up with fiance Pete Davidson.
Six of Grande’s closest friends – Victoria Monet, Courtney Chipolone, Alexa Luria, Rim Taya Shawki, Tayla Parx and Njomza – feature in the song’s music video.
The track opens with a modern twist on The Sound Of Music’s My Favourite Things while the lyrics seem to refer to Grande’s doomed relationship with SNL comedian Davidson.
At one point she sings: “Wearing a ring but ain’t going to be no missus.”
Grande is seen dancing inside a futuristic house as well as across a neon-lit kitchen counter. The singer and her friends also pose on the front lawn.
Grande has been teasing the track on her social media channels for several weeks and it will appear on her forthcoming album, Thank U, Next.
Grande, 25, enjoyed a successful year in 2018 with single Thank U, Next spending six weeks at the top of the UK singles chart and album Sweetener topping the album chart.
She is nominated for two Grammys ahead of the ceremony next month, including best pop solo performance and best pop vocal album.
