The parents of swimmer Chloe Waddell have said they will always remember her smile.
The 16-year-old girl, who had competed in the Olympic trials against Rebecca Adlington, went into cardiac arrest on Sunday morning and was pronounced dead in hospital.
Her parents, David and Fiona, who found her unconscious at their home in Timperley, Manchester, said they were “devastated.”
“Chloe was exceptionally outgoing, extremely popular and had a wonderful smile,” they said.
“She worked incredibly hard. She loved swimming, she was very focused on it and she wanted to go as far as she could.”
Chloe had been at a ceremony on Saturday where she was presented with the outstanding achievement award before going to a party at a friend’s house.
Detective Inspector Debbie Oakes, from Greater Manchester Police, said there are no suspicious circumstances.
