Former Morgan Academy assistant rector Douglas Forrest

Douglas Forrest, a former assistant rector of Morgan Academy, has died aged 91.
Originally from Aberdeen, Mr Forrest served his apprenticeship as an engineering draughtsman and worked for ICI in South Africa.
He taught at Aberdeen Academy before coming to Dundee in 1961 as principal teacher of the technical department.
During his career, he wrote school and college textbooks and served on national committees.
Mr Forrest retired in 1982 and the following year was made a life member of the Scottish Secondary Teachers’ Association, having served in various capacities including as vice-president in 1965. He was also a governor of Dundee College of Education.
Mr Forrest lived for many years in Auchterhouse and latterly in Stonehaven.
He is survived by wife Jean, daughters Jane and Anne and son Douglas, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
