The general secretary of the Sikh temple in Dundee, Gurbachan Singh, has died at the age of 73.
He had held the post for eight years and prior to that was president of the Nelson Street temple, or gurdwara.
He was also a trustee of the Bharatiya Ashram, the city’s Indian cultural and education centre.
A gurdwara spokesman said: ”He was a much respected and loved member of the community and always aimed to help all people where he could.
”He worked hard to build communications between other faiths and was the Sikh representative on the Dundee Inter Faith Association.
”He will be sadly missed by his family, the Sikh community and by many friends within the wider Dundee community.”
Gurbachan Singh was one of the founding members of the gurdwara in the early 1970s. He is survived by his wife Gurnam Kaur and his children and grandchildren.
