Auchtermuchty man Harry Forgan has died at the grand old age of 102.
Mr Forgan became a centenarian in August 2008, celebrating in Rosturk House, Cupar, where he was latterly a resident.
Auchtermuchty-born, he was a cobbler in his father’s shoemaking business which traded in the village, at Kingskettle and Cupar. He later worked for Prudential Insurance, covering an area that took in Gateside and Glenfarg, and the treasurer’s department of the former Fife County Council.
In the Second World War he fitted long-range fuel tanks to Spitfires and Hurricanes, notably in India.
A keen sportsman, he played badminton into his 70s and even had a game of golf on his 90th birthday. He also enjoyed bowling.
His wife Helen died about 16 years ago and his son Ian died in 2008. A grandfather and great-grandfather, he is survived by his other sons, Eric and Alan.
