Dr Ian Jeffrey, a former senior lecturer at Dundee Dental School, has died aged 80 years old.
Born in Edinburgh and latterly of Carnoustie, Dr Jeffrey studied at Edinburgh Dental School before joining the Colonial Service.
He spent three years in Uganda and then returned to Scotland in 1959 and began teaching at the Dundee Dental School, which was then a part of St Andrews University.
Dr Jeffrey taught for 30 years before retiring in the early 1990s. However, in 1978 he returned to Africa for five months to help set up a dental school in Nairobi.
A motorbike enthusiast, Dr Jeffrey was also a skilled wood-turner, keen hillwalker and amateur photographer. He was also a member of the Probus Club.
A resident of Carnoustie for nearly 40 years, Dr Jeffrey is survived by his wife Jenny, children Michelle, Chris and Douglas and four grandchildren.
