The Rev Dr John Fraser, who was minister at Farnell for 24 years, has died in Edinburgh.
Mr Fraser was one of the longest-serving ministers in Angus when he retired to Edinburgh in 1983, having been minister of the country parish near Brechin since the late 1950s, when he moved from his first charge at Banchory West.
Mr Fraser was originally from Dingwall and lived in Edinburgh during and after the war.
When he moved to Farnell, it was linked with Kinnell, but this was broken eight years later.
The author of a theological book, Jesus And Paul, Mr Fraser did translations of work of John Calvin from Latin.
He served as a justice of the peace for 12 years and was a founder member of the community council.
His wife Mary predeceased him and he is survived by his son David and daughter Christine.
