Fraser Gibson, financial director at leading fresh produce growers Stewart’s of Tayside has died suddenly at the age of 52 after taking ill while cycling on Sunday morning.
Mr Gibson had been with the Stewart family at Tofthill, Glencarse, for 14 years having been previously employed in a similar role with Blairgowrie-based growers’ co-operative Scottish Soft Fruit Growers.
During his time at Tofthill he had been part of a close- knit team supplying soft fruit and swedes to the multiple retail chains. Company managing director Jim Stewart said yesterday: “We are devastated to have lost Fraser.
“He had a great reputation as one of the best accountants in the fresh produce industry. He was like a brother to all of us here and was completely dedicated to his job.”
Mr Gibson, whose father came from Arran and his mother from Singapore, was educated at Queen Victoria School, Dunblane. Only last week he met up with a cousin who is a doctor with the Singapore team at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
A long time resident of Scone, he is survived by his wife Nicola and children Linda, 29, David, 26, and Marie, 23.
