The former manager of Dundee United’s Taypools, Alistair White, has died aged 85.
Mr White was involved with the scheme, set up in the mid-1950s to generate cash for United, when it became the biggest club pools outfit in the country, said his son Ian.
The pools were wound up in 1991.
Born in Dundee, Mr White was educated at Morgan Academy before starting work in the insurance industry.
He was appointed manager of Taypools in 1957 but decided on a complete change of course 10 years later and trained as a teacher.
He was latterly head of the commercial department at Carnoustie High School.
After he retired, he cared for his wife Betty until her death.
He is survived by sons Ian and Andy and daughter Pauline.
