Dundee ballet teacher Marlyn Parrott has died following a short illness.
Mrs Parrott, who was 63, founded the Studio School of Ballet in 1971 and taught in a variety of locations, including Monifieth, Longforgan and Broughty Ferry.
She taught until shortly before her death, having picked up a passion for dancing as a child.
Born in Dundee, Mrs Parrott grew up in the west end and was educated at Hawkhill Primary School and Logie Secondary before starting work at Keillors in the city centre.
She met local government officer Derek Parrott in 1970 and the couple married two years later. Their only child Susan also a dancer was born in 1976.
Mrs Parrott produced a number of local ballet shows, including a sell-out event in the Caird Hall in 2009.
Mr Parrott said, “Through the dance school she assisted a number of children, including Susan, in getting to the Dance School of Scotland. She had very high standards and the children loved her for it.”
Mrs Parrott, who also raised thousands of pounds for local charities, is survived by husband, daughter, son-in-law Luis and grand-daughter Lily.
