A family doctor who cared for the Inverbervie community for almost 30 years has died after a long illness.
Dr William Diack (71) was admitted to Woodend Hospital in Aberdeen on December 24, and died there on Friday.
Dr Diack was born in Dunfermline but moved to Shetland aged one after his father was killed in the second world war.
He moved to Aberdeen and studied medicine at Aberdeen University, graduating in 1963, the same year he married.
Dr Diack met Patricia while training at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where she was a laboratory technician. The couple moved to Inverbervie in 1965 and brought up both their daughters in the town.
Pauline is a GP at Inverbervie Health Centre and Christine is an accountant who also lives in the town. They have five sons.
Dr Diack retired in 1995 after a stroke, but kept on hobbies like photography and astronomy. His funeral will take place at Bervie Parish Church at 11am on Saturday.
