Journalist Norman Adams has died, aged 74.
Mr Adams worked on stories for DC Thomson Commando comics almost until the end of his life.
Ninian Reid who worked with Mr Adams on a series of projects said: “Norman blazed a literary trail, uniquely of his own making.”
Alan Will, former chief reporter with DC Thomson in Aberdeen, said he was a wonderful character, and one of the finest talents to emerge from the city.
The son of a trawlerman, Mr Adams grew up in Torry.
He got his first break as a reporter at the age of 16 when he joined DC Thomson’s Aberdeen office in 1952.
Following national service with the 1st Battalion The Seaforth Highlanders he returned to DC Thomson, then moved to the Scottish Daily Record and Scottish Daily Express.
He married Edith Garrow and they had three children Norman Jr, Kenneth and Eleanor.
Mr Adams worked for the Rhodesia Herald for a year in the 1960s, before returning to the UK for a job on the Scottish Daily Express.
After being made redundant, he and two ex-colleagues formed a successful news agency.
He was editor of Leopard Magazine and was an associate of Logik Image Management.
Following the death of his first wife he married Moira Forbes.
He wrote a number of books and collaborated with stepson Mark Forbes on several short films
Mr Adams, who had been suffering from cancer, died at his home on August 12.
His funeral will be at Aberdeen Crematorium on Monday at 11.45am.
The family have asked for donations in lieu of flowers to Gastrocan, the Grampian Gastro-Oesophageal Cancer Research Fund.
