A former footballer who played for Dundee United, St Johnstone, Brechin and Forfar has died at the age of 91.
Charles (Chic) Robbie was born in Dundee and was educated at Cowgate and Stobswell schools.
He began his football career with Dundee North End in the junior ranks.
Tottenham and Wolves were battling for his signature, but Mr Robbie signed for St Johnstone before his budding career was interrupted by the second world war.
He joined the 7th battalion of The Black Watch and saw action in western Europe.
Mr Robbie was injured in combat and suffered shrapnel wounds.
However, on returning home and leaving the army in 1946 he resumed his footballing career at St Johnstone.
Spells followed at Brechin City and Forfar Athletic before Mr Robbie ended his career at boyhood heroes Dundee United.
He spent a year playing and helping out the reserve team before retiring in 1956.
Mr Robbie also worked while playing football.
He became a case-maker with Langlands and MacAinsh Ltd in Dundee’s Seagate.
He went on to work as a stock checker with NCR and worked in the warehouse at William Low in Baird Avenue before retiring.
Mr Robbie was also on the committee of the Gellatly Street youth club.
A bowler, he was a member of Barrack Park Bowling Club for many years and was a former club champion.
He also played with Dundee Indoor Bowling Club for 35 years.
A long-time member of Club Romano, Mr Robbie was also a member of Balgay Church.
In 1969 he met The Queen when she visited the city.
Mr Robbie spent his retirement cheering on his beloved Dundee United, and was one of the oldest season ticket holders at Tannadice.
Married to Teresa in 1945 in Dundee, Mr Robbie is survived by his daughter Lorraine.
