Tributes have been paid to a popular Forfar primary school teacher who died suddenly after a short illness, aged 52.
Jacquie Aitken, of Lochbank Gardens, was a respected and valued member of staff at the town’s Whitehills school.
Born and brought up in Arbroath, Jacquie (nee Ross) studied French, fine art, medieval history and computer programming at St Andrews University
Jacquie initially took a job in residential social work in a children’s home in Scone and it was at that time she met her husband, Steve.
They married in June 1984 and lived in St Andrews before moving to Dundee.
Jacquie returned to study at the College of Education, then began work almost immediately at Wellbrae Primary in Forfar in 1989.
After moving to Forfar, Jacquie took a career break to bring up daughter Jenny and son Neil, returning to work as a supply teacher at primaries including Tannadice, Aberlemno and Kirkriggs.
She returned to the former Wellbrae Primary before moving to the pre-school department at its Whitehills Primary replacement.
