A 20-year-old Blairgowrie man has died after a two-year battle with cancer.
Alan Harper, who was a prominent member of Blairgowrie Air Training Cadet Squadron for many years, died at his home on April 3.
Flight Lieutenant Michael Kay, adjutant, 2519 ATC Squadron, Blairgowrie, said, “Alan was an admirable and greatly respected young man.”
He was a regular prize-winner at the squadron and was cadet of the year in 2006.
As a cadet sergeant he was appointed the Lord Lieutenant’s ATC Cadet for Perth and Kinross for the year 2007-08. He was also a prizewinner at the Dundee and Central Scotland Wing modelling competitions.
Alan attended Hill Primary School and Blairgowrie High School, where he was a senior prefect.
On leaving Blairgowrie High, he studied aeronautical engineering at Glasgow University.
Alan is survived by his parents Bruce and Isobel, two brothers, Mark and Scott, and a sister Lynn.
