One of Dundee’s best known characters has died at the age of 77.
Norman ”Nobby” Clark, of Huntly Road, passed away on Sunday morning after an illness.
Born in Kirkton, Nobby left school at 15 to become a ”scaffie,” a job he kept and enjoyed throughout a 50-year career until his retirement just over a decade ago.
He was renowned for his colourful suits, array of pin badges and long grey beard and could often be seen cycling through the city on his message bike.
Photographs and caricatures of Nobby adorn the walls of several of his favourite Dundee haunts, including the Royal Arch and Balmore Bar.
Among his other favourite watering holes were the Boar’s Rock and Central Bar.
A widower following the death of his wife Margaret in 1985, Nobby is survived by his five children: Bruce, Dorothy, Karen, Malcolm and Norma.
He also had a dozen grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Family members described Nobby as an ”eccentric, kind, loving family man.”
His funeral service will be held on Friday at James Ashton’s at 1.30pm, followed by the Eastern Cemetery at 2pm.
