Derby week shows football is alive and kicking in Dundee
ByIan Roache
The city of Dundee can now be declared a winner in this double-derby week.
Tonight’s sell-out crowd at Tannadice of around 13,000 will combine with Sunday’s 11,447 attendance at Dens to show the rest of Scotland that football is vibrant, exciting and extremely watchable in this neck of the woods.
For back-to-back derbies to attract approximately 25,000 spectators over such a short space of time is a huge endorsement of the two clubs by the people.
It was United’s supporters who got value for their hard-earned cash at the weekend but fans of the Dark Blues will be hoping that a change of competition from Premiership to League Cup will bring them a change in fortune.
Whatever the score tonight, though, we should all agree on one thing Dundee is a proud and passionate football city.
