David Cameron has a Europe problem. Nothing new there I hear you cry, but when the issue rears its head it does so spectacularly.
The Prime Minister, already battling against further backlash from the defection of Douglas Carswell down south, was challenged first by the president of the CBI at the group’s dinner and then, somewhat less surprisingly, by Alex Salmond.
So it was no shock he headed for some sanctuary at MacTaggart Scott on Friday.
The Better Together-donating business is big in the engineering world, mainly within the naval defence and marine industries, which work well for Mr Cameron’s message.
Except no one was really interested in those lines. It was all Ukip and Euro problems. To be fair to the Conservative leader, he was strong with his message.
Mr Cameron said he will be back again before September 18 to try to help the Better Together campaign.
I’m pretty sure strategists at the top of the No campaign will be hoping next time he can leave his excess baggage in London.
