Who is actually standing up for Leuchars? Who is making the case for a base with first class facilities which seems to be diminished every time the UK Government reviews its defence strategy.
In both instances, Lossiemouth was the beneficiary.
The move actually makes sense this time round. The Moray base has the infrastructure which used to be in Fife. That’s the point.
Local MP Stephen Gethins has been a champion of the area but unfortunately it would seem his party doesn’t feel the same way.
It’s no great surprise the SNP was far more active in its PR about backing the base which is in the constituency of its Westminster leader, Angus Robertson.
Unless Gethins’ voice is joined by many others, this sad state of affairs will not change.
