Bizarre goal or not, let’s not kid ourselves here: Dundee fully merited full points from their trip to Fir Park at the weekend.
And who’s to say that Paul Hartley’s side will not continue their amazing recent momentum to secure a top six spot in the coming weeks?
For me, top six should be the least of their targets now, and at this rate it should not be beyond Dundee to overhaul Hamilton in the standings.
The Dens Park club went eight games unbeaten in the league at the weekend and they haven’t done that since April 2003.
But even more pleasing for Dundee fans should be the stat that they’ve incredibly scored in their last 25 league fixtures in a row.
With that sort of consistency, it’s no wonder Hartley has reassessed his targets midway through the campaign.
As for Motherwell, Dire Straits played on the tannoy before kick-off and it’s certainly dire straits for the Steelmen who seem to be freefalling towards Championship football at this rate.
Devoid of confidence and ideas, they seem destined to follow the direction Hibs took last season unless something changes drastically.
