Coming up in Saturday’s Courier a little box of horrors

Coming up in Saturday’s Courier a little box of horrors

Brace yourself for a cautionary tale.

The nightmare before Christmas involves not some horrific manifestation of past horrors, but a chilling tale of technological terror.

Yes, for one Dundee family the festive season has already turned sour after a young laddie got a bit over-excited while playing on his X-Box.

Caught up in the joy of the game FIFA no less he somehow began racking up a quiet large bill.

Not just £1 either. Not £2 nor £3. Or even £4, £5 or £6.

This could go on for some quite considerable time, so I will short-circuit matters by saying he eventually splashed out more than £850.

His mum was not best pleased. Very far from it.

Christmas, she fears, has been ruined.

We have the full sorry story.

In other news we also reflect on the happier side of Christmas.

Among the top attractions are an overwhelming response to a Fife campaign to ensure hard-up families don’t go without this festive season.

Started by a couple of enterprising Fifers, the initiative has gone into overdrive with thousands and thousands of gifts having been donated.

Wonderful.

We also have a tale that some people will find quite remarkable (can something be “quite remarkable”? I suppose one could argue it either is remarkable or it isn’t. A bit like something that is unique. It can’t be “quite unique”. Interesting).

Anyway, said tale involves a pensioner locked up for a “hate crime” after he was overheard saying the work “tinks” in his own garden.

The law has passed its sentence, but you can make your own judgement on perusing our weekend edition.

There is also some rather wonderful news (can something be “rather wonderful”? I suppose one could argue it either is wonderful or it isn’t. A bit like something that is unique. It can’t be “rather unique”. Interesting).

Anyway, said tale involves the Queen and a crop of super-strength magic mushrooms. Oof.

You too can trip the light fantastic if, an arguably only if, you pick up Saturday’s Courier. If you can’t, won’t or shan’t take the hint and buy print, why not try our digital edition? Thanks ever so.
