Despite premature claims she was a hasbeen, ol’ Bertha proved otherwise on Monday.
The tail end of the hurricane caused chaos across Scotland. If you don’t believe me (I’m sure you do, but if you don’t) be sure to pick up Tuesday’s Courier as we dispassionately produce the cold, hard (and very wet) evidence.
In other news we speak to the aircraft enthusiasts determined to snap up “Black Mike”. That’s an old Phantom aircraft for the none plane-spotters among us (there are one or two, honest…). They won’t be drawn on the cost, but they are more than happy to spell out their determination to find a good home for the much-loved Leuchars-based plane.
Meanwhile, Courier Country is backing independence in a big way. Indeed, 100% of those betting on the outcome of the referendum in Dundee are backing separation.
OK so it’s not any kind of scientific poll, but it is jolly interesting. We have more stats than you can shake a stick at (should you have a stick to hand and be so inclined).
Talking of betting, we also have news of a major investment at Perth Racecourse. Over £1 million (that’s a cool million in cliched newspaper talk) is being spent on upgrading facilities, including accommodation for jockeys. Said accommodation would also be made available to the general public. So if you are ever in the area and are looking for somewhere to stay with 4ft ceilings you know where to go…
We also have the latest as Tian Tian gets a bit moody. Could it be that the panda is at last feeling a bit parental? It could well be (but be warned, it’s not yet black and white).
When is Tuesday anything other than terrific? I simply can’t think of one that hasn’t been. If you are a Courier reader, this one will be extra special. If you don’t fancy grappling with our print edition, why not try our digital edition?
