Don’t be scared.
Breathe deep, gird your loins and take the plunge.
After all, what is there to be frightened of? Is it the unknown that alarms you? Is it the thought that you could be plunging into eternal darkness with no certainty of coming out the other side?
Well don’t worry, we’re here to guide you through the sheer terror.
What’s this? You’re not scared? It’s only a cross in a box? The refer-what now?
We’re not talking about that. Pah!
We’re speaking of the ghastly, ghostly goings-on in the Tolbooth Museum in Stonehaven.
The modern-day equivalent of the Scooby Doo gang have been having a scout around the former jail and they have made some startling discoveries.
“Banging and knocking” for example, and a sudden feeling of cold. A doll moved and stones were thrown.
All very mysterious (albeit, to Coming Up’s jaded eye, a bit lame really). There’s more but we’re keeping it safely under wraps until you get Thursday’s Courier.
And that’s not all we’ve uncovered on a day when news about anything other than you-know-what was hard to come by.
For example, we tell the tale of poor Dundonian, Alistair Geddes.
As a war artist, it was his job to take a hot air balloon above enemy lines and sketch what he saw.
He and his Royal Flying Corps buddies had an average life expectancy of 18 hours. His artistic efforts are on display in Perth and we bring you a sample.
We catch up with difficulty with an octogenarian who is so full of fizz he ran from Dundee to Arbroath for charity.
It’s probably worth mentioning that even Coming Up has notices there’s a fairly significant vote happening on Thursday.
We preview the R&A’s poll on whether to finally admit women members.
And one of our pages has a ruddy massive squidon it.
