People with eclectic tastes will gobble up Friday’s Courier with no little relish.
All too often marketing types promise “something for everyone”. And, almost as often, they fail to deliver on that promise and fall short of delivering on their lofty pledge.
It is therefore with a modicum of trepidation that I find myself guaranteeing a paper that caters for quite literally everyone.
What I am trying to say is quite simply this I do not promise “something for everyone” lightly.
So why, I hear you cry with ill-concealed impatience, do I make that pledge today, ahead of this apparently unremarkable Friday in late April?
Well, I‘ll tell you.
We have the following:
*A football fan who made a rash promise and ended up with a tattoo on his bare buttocks
*Further details of an audacious theft including thousands of bees
*Anger over a controversial “elf and safety” ruling in Fife (“crazy” according to one elected official)
*All the latest on the£8.3 million boost for Dundee
*A fascinating tale regarding the 1950s theft of the Stone of Destiny…including the testimony of a man who saw it arriving at Arbroath Abbey
*An update from Barry Buddon, where lots of people will watch people firing guns during the Commonwealth Games
When I tell you the above is but a tiny taster of the wider treats available I feel sure you may be some way toward shaking your head in disbelief while muttering: “By jove, he’s right. I doubted it but it really does sound like there is something for everyone. It really is quite remarkable” (or words very much to that effect).
What the more perceptive of you may also have noted is that I haven’t even touched on sport yet. Amazing.
And so, what can those who prefer the back of a paper to the front expect?
Well, Dundee manager Paul Hartley is hoping a bit of inside knowledge will help his team in their must-win game at Alloa. You can, and I would suggest must, read all about it in Friday’s Courier.
Meanwhile, Jackie McNamara explains why he dropped his touchline ban appeal. Intriguing.
And still on the theme of sporting intrigue, Tommy Wright has the latest contract news for St Johnstone fans.
For more on every last one of these lovingly-crafted stories, and so many more, please do pick up Friday’s Courier. Alternatively, why not try our digital edition?
