Coming up in Thursday’s Courier animal magic

An array of emus, coatis, rheas and wallabies have escaped death row.

Splendid news for animal lovers as The Courier reveals new homes have been found for all the creatures from Fife’s doomed animal park.

It was an exodus on the kind of proportions not seen since Noah’s day (that may be stretching it a bit) as two by two (not really) the beasts were led to safety on a big boat (no boats were involved).

In my view it really is difficult to see the whole affair as anything other than a very positive development. And that feels pretty good.

If, for some bizarre reason, that does not leave you purring with delight perhaps the tale of the cat who has found a new home following a distinctly difficult past will do the job.

Moggy mum of four Amy had struggled to bring up her kittens amid appalling deprivation in a disused Dundee bookies. But now she is enjoying a new life in upmarket Broughty Ferry thanks to kind-hearted Courier readers. Bet you’ll be feline fine after reading that.

Meanwhile, the row over potential Scottish independence is becoming increasingly catty. Our man Kieran Andrews reflects on all the latest, which revolves around some controversial Gers figures (something to do with politics, not the fallen-on-hard-times football team).

In other news the mercury hit a sizzling 15C on Wednesday (more balmy than sizzling if I’m being honest, but all things are relative). We took the opportunity to get out and about (taps aff Tayside and all that) to capture some of those enjoying the somewhat unseasonable (but nonetheless welcome) sunshine. All the latest in Thursday’s Courier where you can also find out whether or not the sun will still have its hat on at the weekend and, furthermore, whether or not it plans to come out and play.

It may very well be that you remember the case of a stalker who followed his victim all the way to Turkey to present her with a peanut in a jewellery box. He hit the headlines after trying to impress her with homemade lemonade, not to mention bursting into a rendition of My Way in the dock during his trial. Said fellow has now been sentenced. Thursday’s Courier has the full story.

It promises to be yet another action-packed, bursting at the seams Courier. I urge you to snap up a copy. If you find yourself turning up your nose at print, we won’t turn our backs on you. Not a bit of it. For the likes of you, may I take this opportunity to present our digital edition? Why not, I find myself asking, give it a whirl?
