When caterwauling 80s songstress Carol Decker admitted she had mistaken Montrose for Montreux last year, how we lol’d.
It turns out the joke’s on us though as the Angus town has become a musical hotbed.
Not only did it manage to secure Status Quo to headline Mo-Fest last year, it has lined up even greater (absolutely unarguably) talent for this summer.
Sadly, Decker has had to pull out of her gig but the announcement of Madness, we feel, makes up for it in no small way.

To Fife now, where Leuchars is still in the running to be Britain’s first spaceport and the McRae Rally Challenge at Knockhill is revving up for success.
More on both can be found within Wednesday’s pages.
We have a full round up of Tuesday morning’s White Hell and tell the tale of four workers suspended for getting involved in some saucy lunchtime japes for a naughty magazine.
