Lindsay Roy defended his Glenrothes seat, cantering to victory over the SNP.
Mr Roy, who only became MP for the constituency in 2008 with a stunning by-election victory, managed to increase his majority to over 16,000 in what has always been a Labour stronghold.
Indeed the only real surprise of the evening was the size of the turnout, rising over 7.5% to 59.87% despite poor weather for much of the day.
Going into the count with a majority of over 6000 a shock was always unlikely, but Mr Roy’s delight was clearly visible as the presiding officer announced the results.
He said, “It’s a great honour to serve the people of this constituency.
“Our will is in our people and I believe in supporting the many and not the few.”
He added, “I believe in the union and that we’re stronger together.
“Today this constituency has reinforced it’s support for traditional Labour values.”
The SNP’s David Alexander was a distant second, with Lib Dem Harry Wills third and Sheila Low of the Conservatives fourth.
