Eleventh hour rush to register to vote ahead of independence referendum
BySteven Dinnie
People are rushing to register to vote ahead of the deadline at midnight on Tuesday.
Across Tayside and Fife offices have been busy as would be voters aim to ensure their names are on the register in time for the historic referendum poll on September 18.
Dundee City Council offices at City Square are remaining open until midnight, while in Fife three additional phone lines have been opened to cope with demand.
Meanwhile, statistics show over 100,000 registration forms were downloaded from the aboutmyvote.co.uk website in August alone.
The number of electors registered since March this year has risen by 40,000, including 10,000 postal votes.
