The First Miniser nevertheless insisted the Yes side remain referendum underdogs. Mr Salmond was speaking during a visit to the Eden Brewery in Guardbridge, Fife, on Tuesday. He said the latest YouGov poll – which showed the No vote’s lead has shrunk to just six points – was “encouraging”. He added: “I’m much more encouraged by the reaction we are getting in the streets and communities. “Dundee was extraordinary, a carnival atmosphere full of people in the city centre. “People who have never given a stuff about politics or any politician before in their lives are engaging with us.” *For more on this story see Wednesday’s Courier or try our digital edition.
