AS IT HAPPENED: Chancellor’s Autumn Statement and Spending Review
ByKieran Andrews
George Osborne is to unveil his Autumn Statement and Spending Review to MPs in the House of Commons. Expect much political posturing amongst the economic pointers.
Families will be keen to see what changes will be made on tax credit cuts after the Chancellor came under heavy fire from not only his opponents but also his fellow Conservatives, including Scottish leader Ruth Davidson, for cutting too far too fast.
Oil revenue forecasts will also be crucial. Are they going to finally fall for the first time in many a year? There will also be the rather large matter of the knock-on effect for the Scottish Government’s budget.
Fretting about all this heavy economic stuff? Don’t worry, I’ll be here with colleague Gareth McPherson to guide you through the statement as it happens from 12.30 onwards, with in-depth coverage, analysis and comment in Thursday’s paper.
