Former First Minister Alex Salmond has promised to “shoot straight from the hip” as host of a new radio phone-in show.
The ex-SNP leader is following in the footsteps of Nick Clegg, who quit as Liberal Democrat leader after the general election, to take calls from the public for LBC.
Starting on January 13, The Alex Salmond Phone-in on LBC will be live every Wednesday from 4pm to 4.30pm during Iain Dale’s show.
The station has released video of The Courier columnist reading out some choice tweets sent to him by his less enthusiastic followers.
LBC said no topic will be off limits as listeners have the opportunity to call, text, tweet or email Mr Salmond directly.
Mr Salmond said: “It’s going to be honest, straight talking with a bit of fun thrown in!”
Scottish Conservative deputy leader Jackson Carlaw said: “Despite complaining repeatedly about austerity Britain, it seems Mr Salmond now wants to supplement his income from two political salaries and a newspaper column with a talk-show.
“Maybe the SNP see inflicting the listeners of LBC with the views of our former First Minister as a valuable tactic in driving a wedge between Scotland and England.
“And with his pledge to shoot from the hip, Nicola Sturgeon will be listening from behind the sofa in fear of what embarrassment her predecessor can now cause on a weekly basis.”
