‘I’ll be back’ Danny Alexander signs off Terminator-style at conference

Danny Alexander tried to turn himself into The Terminator in a bid to save his seat in May’s general election.
The Chief Secretary to the Treasury signed off his speech to the Liberal Democrat Scottish conference by quoting the famous Arnold Schwarzenegger phrase “I’ll be back”, despite trailing in the opinion polls.
He is predicted to lose his seat of Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey, but insisted there are “not enough people like me” in the UK Government cabinet.
He also admitted delegates might be “reeling in shock” at his optimism.
Mr Alexander also announced that £550,000 would be given to fund 17 new homes being built for disabled Scottish veterans through money raised from Libor fines on banks.
He attacked the economic and social credentials of both Labour and the Conservatives, although referenced language used by David Cameron when he accused the SNP of wanting to “break up Britain (and) bankrupt” the country.
“We’re fighting to save the soul of this country from a clueless Labour Party, a heartless Conservative Party and reckless nationalists,” he added.
