Raith Rovers boss Grant Murray has his eyes set on his first silverware as a manager after watching his side make the Ramsdens Cup’s last eight at East End Park.
An early Dougie Hill header and a second-half Liam Fox penalty secured a 2-0 derby victory over Fife rivals Dunfermline and will see Rovers’ name in the hat for the quarter-final draw on Thursday afternoon.
And Murray admits he would love to see his side progress even further in the competition after success over the Pars.
“We’re in the next round and we’ll see who we get,” Murray said. “Obviously we’re not going to turn around and say we’re going to win this cup we’d love to, and I’d love to but we know it is very difficult to get to the final of these cups.
“The main thing for us is that we performed well tonight and I thought we defended superbly as a team.
“We got ourselves into a great position early on and we managed to hold on.”
Pars boss Jim Jefferies was disappointed to see his unbeaten record against Raith as Dunfermline manager go by the wayside.
“We’re a young side playing against a far more experienced side and I think on the balance of play there was very little in it,” he said.
“But I knew before the season started there might be some naivety and that’s what happened with the first goal. It was a horrible start but we responded well.”
