Dundee FC asked to abstain from newco Rangers SFL vote

Dundee will not be voting on what division the new Rangers will be playing in next season when the lower-league clubs meet next week.

The SFL have deemed there is a conflict of interest for the Dens Park club, given the fact they are favourites to benefit from Charles Green’s newco being refused entry to the SPL.

Dens chief executive Scot Gardiner released a statement to clarify Dundee’s position, and says the decision on who will be the 12th club in the top flight needs to be clarified as soon as possible.

In Gardiner’s statement he points out that Dundee, and not Dunfermline, have been told they shouldn’t vote, which could be viewed as confirmation it will be the Dark Blues rather than the Pars who will be invited to take Rangers’ place.
